《黑客帝国》中史密斯说什么是一个圈套呢？
在当今这个被高科技电影充斥的时代，《黑客帝国》即使过了这么多年，依然在电影圈中屹立不倒，足见有非常大的魅力。在电影中能与“救世主”尼奥一较高下的莫过于特工史密斯，在第三季史密斯自爆，表示这一切只是圈套，因为无论是尼奥还是史密斯是紧密相联的，一个死掉，另一个将会被删除。
一、特工史密斯终于发现这一切只是陷阱
史密斯一开始是为了保护矩阵而产生的杀毒程序，他跟其它的特工的职责一样，负责将矩阵内有害的物质清理干净。但是史密斯与其它特工不同的是，他想获得自由，不愿意被约束。史密斯虽然不是实质的存在，却可以随便使用连接在矩阵中人类的身体，并且有超强的能力。在第三季，史密斯却突然表示自己进入圈套，因为史密斯终于知道自己和对手尼奥表面上是死对头，其实两人像是系数中的正负数，只要两人其中一个死掉，另一个不没有存在的意义，可以随便被删除。因此尼奥为了换取母体系统的平衡，选择“自杀”的形式，用自己的生命删除史密斯。
二、黑客帝国只是一次实验，人类是实验的对象
其实不只是人类，就像母体中的程序也是实验的对象，在这些程序当中有像沙蒂一家一样甘愿被“命运”安排，也有像史密斯一样，想要摆脱束缚，不安于“命运”。为了保持方程平衡，建造者创造了尼奥和史密斯，两个极端参数，在给予人类选择的时候，也给了程序选择的权利。当史密斯为了摆脱母体这个牢笼，想着将锡安摧毁就可以拥有自由，随着之后的剧情，却发现史密斯拥有了一定能力之后并不想离开，而是不断的找尼奥报仇。
三、史密斯得知母体的阴谋之后，发现自己只是实验品
在第三部，史密斯表示非常感激尼奥，因为尼奥让自己知道要什么，因为尼奥的超能力会让史密斯产生变异，史密斯的代码将会被系统重改，无论哪方胜利或者失败，这一切都是母体所设的圈套，史密斯的能力越大，也就越接近毁灭。史密斯从最初将人类当成病毒，到后来自己成为病毒，其实说到底，史密斯只不过是母体的一个工具。
史密斯可以说是可怜的存在，不甘心于命运，想要反抗，却依然摆脱不了“命运”，从开始史密斯和尼奥都陷入母体所设的陷阱当中。《黑客帝国》不仅是一部科幻片，也是一片哲学片，尼奥、史密斯、包括先知等人都是母体实验室中的小白鼠。

其中一个史密斯就模仿莎迪的语气说了之前莎迪说过的话
这里其实是史密斯想告诉先知，说话的这个人之前就是莎迪，只不过现在被复制了（或者说感染了）
现在回到宿命对决的结尾：
史密斯说自己曾经预见过这一幕，尼奥在那里，然后自己站在这里，是的，这里，然后自己要说些什么呢？“凡事只要有开始就会有结束”（注意，这话之前是先知原创的），史密斯说完这话也觉得不对劲。
所以我认为和尼奥对决的那个史密斯就是被感染的先知。她虽然被史密斯复制了，让史密斯拥有自己的能力（预言），但同时先知并不是一个普通的程序，她依然能够在被史密斯控制的情况下反过来影响史密斯，让史密斯去复制尼奥而不是杀死尼奥，这样一来，机器领袖就能够以被复制的尼奥为媒介去删除史密斯这个失控的程序。
